ArtsEtc accepts essays, fiction and poetry about Barbados, its Diaspora and, occasionally, the wider Caribbean community in this context. As with any publication, the best guidelines for submissions are gained from reading the publication itself. Check out any back issues you have.
ArtsEtc is not an event review-based publication. But we do accept work that uses current shows and events in the exploration of larger and more timeless themes. We welcome:
Fiction: Short stories and excerpts.
Non-fiction: Essays (750-1,500 words) on topics concerning arts, culture and the wider community; book reviews; letters to the editor and spot commentaries (300 words) on issues affecting the arts, culture and the wider community.
Main poetry gallery: Submit 3 to 5 samples of your best work.
Haiku Gallery & Featured haiku: Submit 3 to 5 examples of your best traditional or modern haiku, haiga or haiku-inspired verse. Photographers are invited to submit images (jpeg files up to 5MB) to be used with haiku; writers are invited to submit work inspired by images.
We invite photographers, graphic artists and visual artists to submit images of their work. Please send as jpeg files up to 5MB.
