ALPHABET (ABC) POEMS

Two forms of ABC poetry are presented here. In the first, each line in the poetry begins with subsequent letters of alphabet. The poetry need not be rhythmic rather the flow of alphabet is given more importance. The second form, in which each word of the poem begins with subsequent letters of the alphabet, is more challenging especially if you wish your poem to make sense! Pupils who truly enjoy a writing challenge will have fun with both.

Example 1
A young girl was walking in the rain.
But her umbrella didn't open.
Couldn't run, couldn't hurry,
Dressed in new shoes,
Entered a house full of chocolates.
Found all her friends enjoying them.

Example 2
Agile Barry Crocodile
Agile Barry Crocodile dominates every football game he’s in. Jumping, kicking like Messi. Niiiiice! Or Pele! Quality running, scoring, THRICE!! Unbelievable victory! Wonderful X-factory! Youthful zeal, zip and zing!
