My favorite book: Pride and Prejudice. My favorite author: it is impossible to narrow it down to just one, but on that list would definitely be Jane Austen, Leon Uris, Ken Follett, Helen Forrester, and Shiva Naipaul.

The first book to truly grab my attention was the first book I read at four or five years old (happily skipping out the big words)—The Adventures of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. I still remember the thrill of pursuit by Mr. McGregor, the capture, the escape, and the happy ending. I still love these components when I read fiction.

Deanne Kennedy, an award-winning writer, visual artist and performer, is a well-known Barbadian storyteller and was a featured performer for Bim Litfest Children’s Fair 2014.
